  • How to prepare for an interview.
  • Interview questions.
  • Interview tips.
  • After interview.

Interview preparation

Here are some advice that will help you boost your opportunity of success in an interview:

  • Search and ask deeply about the organization you are applying for; such that you can compare between your skills and what the organization is seeking. Also, you will be able to identify them confidently and coherently.
  • Plan to arrive the organization at least ten minutes before the interview scheduled time. You may take into consideration irregular circumstances.
  • Prepare well to answer both common and specialized interview questions as well as your own questions during interview.
  • Gear yourself up to explain your previous career problems and search for any trends affecting the organization.
  • Sleep well the day before interview and avoid drinking stimulants.

Perhaps some organizations and services can offer some practicing for your interview; you can use formal dissertation discussion with your institution tutor. This discussion is recommended to be as professional as the genuine interview.  You may even practice several recording and reviewing attempts.

Interview questions

There is a common misconception that job interview is just answering the interviewer’s questions. However, it is a two-way street and you have the opportunity to ask your own questions.

Interviewer questions

Here are some common questions that are included in interview but not limited to the following:

  • Can you tell me about yourself?

This question is extremely important since it gives the first impression. Your answer should be short, concise, and focused on your greatest qualifications and compelling work experience.

  • Why do you want to work here?

You can discuss the skills, interests, and specific aspects of the job that motivates you to apply.

  • What are your strengths?

Select three desired qualities from the person specification in the job description and prove them with examples.

  • What are your weaknesses?

You can talk about your weak characteristics but append them with the steps taken to improve or overcome.

  • How do you respond to stress and pressure?

Outline a sudden problem that you have dealt with prudently; cast light on your management and organization.

  • What are your goals?

Evidence that you are ambitious by stating your short and long-term aims and try to relate them with both: the job position and the employer’s outlook.

  • Why should we hire you?

Re-emphasize your unique achievements and skills and avoid boasting.

Your own questions

It is recommended to prepare some questions to ask at the end of the interview in order to reveal enthusiasm and high interest.
You can ask about opportunities to progress, daily job responsibilities, working environment, and organization trends in the next five years.

Interview tips

There is no escaping the fact that first impression is crucial when interviewing for a job. It is the best opportunity to display your best talents and prove your experience. Therefore, adhering to the following tips is necessary to increase your chances of securing the job against other competitors.

Dressing and outfit tips:
Regardless the type of company you have applied to, it is perfectly preferable to wear the most formal dress out of an abundance of caution. The safest option for men is the dark suit and tie, whereas for women the dress or skirt and blouse are the optimum choice.

Since being well presented is critical, keep your clothes clean and fresh ironed, cut your fingernails, and polish your shoes. You should also bring your outfit which may include: updated CV, academic certificates, and photo ID.

General tips:

  • Show high level of positivity; use the power of good manners with all organization staff and avoid belittling or humiliating prior employees. It is needless to talk about personal issues as possible.
  • Patronize the communication basics; give a firm handshake, smile regularly, and keep eye contact.

  • Answer the questions clearly and precisely and avoid speaking quickly.
  • If the question is difficult or not clear, give yourself extra time for thinking and preparing the response.

After interview

After you finish the interview, you can show preparedness for any additional questions. You may also thank the interviewer for his/her time.
If you are requested to attempt a second interview, you must put an extra effort for its preparation. The feedback received from the first interview and the data collected about organization may help you relate your qualities and experience to the organization goals.
